Dear Newsletter Recipients, The Association for Community Design has made a significant change to the way we distribute information by way of this newsletter; we have given control of it to you, the recipients. You are now able to post your own news and jobs, without being a member of the organization or signing up for an on-line account. We encourage you to post news and jobs that you think other people with interests in community design and planning would like to have - whether they are local, regional, national or international. You can post a news item or a job here. If you post a job, you will also receive instructions for removing the posting when the position is filled. You will need to enter a title, a brief summary, and a full post. The titles and summaries will be distributed according to your individual timing preferences, the full posts will be available on-line. You can choose to receive a monthly, weekly or daily digest of posts in addition to being able to receive things immediately as they are approved. You can also choose to receive just news or just jobs as you wish - simply choose 'none' for the list you do not want. You can manage your subscription preferences here. As a default, current subscribers have been set to receive weekly digests of both news and jobs. If that works for you, you don't have to do anything except contribute to the newsletter yourself. The previous news and jobs items are archived under 'newsletter archives', but all future postings will scroll on the homepage under 'news' and on the 'news and jobs' page. The newsletter editors will be concentrating their efforts on quarterly newsletters with original articles, book reviews, interviews, and resource overviews. If you would like to contribute, or have interests that you think we should cover, please contact us at newsletter@communitydesign.org. If you choose to receive any of the news or jobs postings you will also automatically receive the quarterly newsletters. We are looking forward to diverse and lively participation by everyone on the list, though of course there are some guidelines for what is appropriate. Each posting will be read by our news and jobs administrator and individually accepted or rejected on the basis of whether it is directly related to community-based design and planning. No marketing of any kind will be accepted, whether for services or materials. Jobs will only be posted if they are for positions in community-based design and planning and include direct contact information for potential employer. If you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact us. More importantly, please don't hesitate to share information with your peers that you think they may find valuable. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and all the local vegetables you can eat as we head into the bounty of fall. ACD Newsletter Editor
